Activities/Attractions: Known as England's smallest city, Wells, situated at the foot of the Mendip Hills, has charm, interesting shops, decent restaurants and St. Cuthbert's Church, a parish church so impressive that it is often mistaken for a cathedral. Those things, alone, would make Wells worth a visit. But it has more to offer than just that.

The real jewel of the city is the walled precinct enclosing twelfth century Wells cathedral, the Bishop's Palace, an impressive, moated medieval stronghold which is the residence of the Bishop of Bath and Wells, and Vicar's Close, the oldest inhabited street in Europe.

The Market Square, Cathedral, Bishop's Palace and other historical buildings are just a brief stroll along the colourful High Street.

Wells is a good touring centre for much of the South-West of England, including Bristol, Bath and as far as Salisbury. Set at the foot of the Mendip Hills, Wells itself is very picturesque.

General Information: Backing onto woodlands, Infield House in Wells, Somerset, England is a beautifully restored Victorian townhouse lovingly appointed with period furnishings, portraits and décor. There is an elegant and comfortable guest lounge with bookcases well stocked with local and regional guides and other reading material.

We are conveniently located just a few minutes' walk to St. Cuthbert's church near the start of the High Street with all its amenities.

• Each of the guest rooms (one twin and two doubles) features an original Victorian fireplace
