With accommodations for up to forty
people, the Hawkesdene House Mountain Retreat is the ideal location for a
small wedding, family reunion or group retreat. In 1925, the Folk School
began its work with its founders hopeful that the quality of life could be
improved by education, and in turn wanted to preserve and share with the
rest of the world the wonderful crafts, techniques and tools that the
mountain people used in every day life.

The llama trek to the top of the mountain in the evening for dinner was an added attraction. Close to golf courses, hiking trails and Chatuge and Nantahala Lake."
General Information: Less than ten minutes from Andrews, North Carolina, you will find the Hawkesdene House Mountain Retreat nestled in a private cove on twenty acres adjoining the Nantahala National Forest. We are members of PAII, NCBBI and AAA listed.
With both bed and breakfast and private cabin accommodations, Hawkesdene House combines all the charm and comfort of an English Country House with the rustic beauty of the North Carolina mountains. The Hawkesdene House has five bed and breakfast guest bedrooms:
- Fern Room - Upstairs room
with a queen-size bed, TV, private adjoining bathroom with shower,
overlooking romantic mountain stream.
- Nantahala Apartment -
Upstairs efficiency apartment with full kitchen, dining/living area,
king-size bed and sofa bed, private adjoining bathroom with shower,
overlooking garden and Nantahala National Forest. Large screen TV with
VCR.
- Snowbird Room - Main floor
room with queen-size bed, TV, private bathroom with tub/shower and
beautiful view of the Snowbird Mountains.
- Wildflower Room - Main floor
room with queen-size bed, TV, private bathroom with shower (a few
steps down the hall), overlooking mountain woodland and garden.
- Hawkesdene Suite - Upstairs
suite with king-size bed, private bathroom with jacuzzi and shower,
dressing room, TV and balcony overlooking mountain llama pasture and
Snowbird Mountains.

Cottage offers far more than the typical mountain cabin.
The cottage sleeps up to ten people and is fully equipped with all the
comforts of home and with a screened porch overlooking the Snowbird
Mountains. Rustic rocking chairs are included for your relaxation.
Appletree,
Blueberry, and Primrose Cottages offer far more than the
typical mountain cabin rental. Each cabin sleeps up to six people and is
fully equipped with all the comforts of home and with a screened porch
overlooking the Snowbird Mountains. Rustic rocking chairs are included for
your relaxation.

What a delightful destination! The main house is a beautiful country home with all the luxuries of a posh hotel but all of the comforts of your best friend's home. We relaxed, hiked, enjoyed the llama trek to the ridge for dinner and had a wonderful time. Breakfast is wonderful with fresh fruit from their own gardens."
