Cathlamet is a picturesque town overlooking the Columbia River, on Hwy 4, 20 miles west of Longview, WA. Established in 1846 as a trading post, the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery also stopped here to trade with the local Cathlamet and Wakiakum Indian tribes. In Cathlamet are groceries, restaurants, pharmacy and shopping. Cathlamet boasts:

Puget Island is uniquely located for day tripping to Mt. St. Helens, the Washington and Oregon Coasts and several wildlife refuges. Once across the river on the ferry, Astoria is less than an hour away, with shopping, eating, a Marine Museum and the Lewis & Clark winter quarters at Ft. Clatsop.
Puget Island is part of the Lewis & Clark National Wildlife Refuge and the Island is also part of the National Columbian White tailed Deer Refuge, its headquarters is near Skmonkawa, Washington.
General Information: Nestled in a curve of the Columbia River, Puget Island is Redfern Farm B&B, opened as a Bed and Breakfast in 1990. Built in 1940, this steeply gabled farm house (sometimes called Dutch Colonial) sits on 20 acres of gardens and pasture.
An easy drive from Portland, Astoria, and the Oregon Coast, and Seattle, Olympia, and the Long Beach Peninsula, Washington, the concept was to have moderately priced accommodations in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for those who wanted to get off the beaten track. The BnB has two second story guest rooms:
- each with a queen bed
- one room also has a twin bed
- you can rest in quiet comfort
snuggled under down filled comforters and hand made quilts
- each room has a private bath
- furnishings are an eclectic mix of
old and new
- there is a back deck for enjoying
the gardens and watching the tweety birds
- guests are invited to wander the
garden and orchard which features an Apple Belgium Hedge and a Pear
Cordon Hedge
- full breakfast is served
- with advance notice, special
dietary requirements can be accommodated
- there is a refrigerator and
microwave for those who wish to fix snacks
- check in and out can be flexible,
late arrivals should let me ahead of time
