Activities/Attractions: The town of Milton Keynes was created in 1967, since 1971 it has been the home of the Open University. It is a stylish town with good shopping centres and facilities for leisure and sporting activities.

There's always loads to do in Milton Keynes! This vibrant new city lets you enjoy the countryside, spend time with the family, take part in thrilling adventure sports or explore its rich history. Throughout the year you will always find something to excite whatever your age and whatever you’re in to.

Many of the attractions and venues within Milton Keynes and the surrounding area have a wide and varied programme of events and other activities for all ages to enjoy and they are both indoor and outdoor, so the British weather won't even be able to spoil your fun.

The Milton Keynes Theatre, which opened on 4 October 1999, is a state of the art building, with the most technically advanced equipment available. The theatre accommodates a vast range of productions, from large-scale West End musicals, to smaller, more intimate drama. The auditorium ceiling has been carefully designed to accommodate various shows and can be lowered or heightened depending on the scale of the production. The seating can also be moved around within the auditorium to vary the capacity from between 900 and 1,400.

If you would prefer to relax at the end of a busy day, then there is 4,500 acres of parks and woodland to take a walk in. Milton Keynes is the "city in the country", a purpose-built environment where trees count for as much as concrete.

Or if you would prefer a more energetic form of relaxation then there are various sporting activities to choose from. There is indoor skiing on real snow, water sports, indoor skydiving, badminton, squash or a work out in one of the many gyms in the area.

The Xscape centre is unique. It has Europe's largest indoor ski slope which uses real snow to ski or toboggan on. It also has an indoor rock climbing wall, 16 screen cinema multiplex, a family entertainment centre which includes ten pin bowling, a health and fitness centre, bars, restaurants, cafes, lifestyle and fashion retail outlets. All under one roof.
