Activities/Attractions: Coastal Palms is located in Motueka, the gateway to the Abel Tasman National Park and situated 45 minutes from Nelson City at the top of the South Island of New Zealand.
Nelson is a region of diverse beauty,
from the clear blue waters and golden sands of Tasman and Golden Bays to
the alpine lakes and vast beech forests of the mountain regions. One of
the sunniest areas in New Zealand, Nelson provides long balmy summers and
clear winter days.
Boasting three different national parks; Abel Tasman, Nelson Lakes and
Kahurangi, all within ninety minutes drive of each other.
The Abel Tasman National Park is a coastal playground offering a mecca for
those seeking sand, sea and sun. Activities include kayaking, seal
swimming, watertaxi rides and launches, skydiving and Abel Tasman's
Greatest Cafe.
Nelson Lakes National Park offers water sports, alpine adventures and a range of tramping trails. Kahurangi National Park, 400,000 hectares of wilderness, is home to many rare native species of fauna and flora while providing great tramping and opportunities for exploration. It is also famous for the filming locations of Lord Of The Rings which can be visited by helicopter or plane.
More than 300 full-time artists drawn from all around the world to work in the Nelson region has produced a flourishing arts community. From this inspirational environment has sprung the internationally acclaimed World of Wearable Art Award Show.
The region is blessed with an
abundance of cookery delights, from the superb seafood to fresh fruit and
organic produce. Micro-breweries have sprung up and Nelson's wine industry
has a fantastic record of accomplishment. In the towns, cafés spill out
on to the streets and artists can be found performing in pubs, parks,
cafés and on the pavement.
Winter is also a magical time, the days are blessed with crystal clear
days, bright blue skies and calm waters. Snow is nestled on the hill tops
surrounds Coastal Palms apartment views. Skiing is also a stone throw away
at St. Arnaud.
Coastal Palms views also encompass the Motueka Sandspit, an internationally recognised habitat for Godwits, Lessor Knots and Ruddy Turnstones. A few minutes walk West one finds elegant White Herons and Royal Spoonbills feeding in the estuary.
