Activities/Attractions: Rutherglen is located approx. 275 km northeast of Melbourne via the Hume Freeway. Although once a former gold mining town, now Rutherglen is far better known as a superb wine and award winning gourmet food producing region.
Originally a gold-mining town of the mid-1800s, Rutherglen Post Office opening on 1 November 1860, it has since developed into a major wine producing area, with 17 wineries all located within a short drive from the town centre, the best of which are highly regarded by wine critics.
Our region is not just about food and wine. It is steeped in history, its fabric shaped by gold miners, boom, bust, generations of farmers, shopkeepers, sportsmen, churchmen and the mighty Murray. There are old mine sites, grand old homesteads, idyllic farms capes, classic shop fronts, footy grounds, some of Australia’s best golf courses and lawn tennis courts, grand old churches and convents, sandy beaches and shady billabongs.

Centrally located in quiet Herrons Lane, Marazion Villas are less than 100 meters from Rutherglen's main street - nestled behind delightful cottage gardens, the villas truly brings together a blend of both old and new. Once behind the charming olde world exterior, you find a light, very spacious, 3 bedroom residence boasting vaulted ceilings, leather lounges, tasteful décor and every modern convenience.
During your stay at the Marazion Villas you do as much or as little as you desire. Take in the many diverse wineries that the region has to offer, dine out at any of the fine restaurants in the area or pack a gourmet hamper and enjoy a peaceful afternoon on the banks of the Murray river. Or simply opt for pizza or a BBQ at home relaxing on the spacious deck or watching the widescreen TV or a DVD.
