Activities/Attractions:  The Midi-Pyrenees area of France overflows with all the ingredients for a perfect holiday away from the beach and fashionable resorts. Uncrowded and uncluttered landscapes, crystal clear rivers, roads free of traffic jams, villages and towns which are masterpieces in their own historical right and regional cuisine which utilises some of France’s most cherished products.

This region has been inhabited by mankind for tens of thousands of years as cave paintings, crumbling fortified towns and medieval pilgrims’ routes testify. The Midi is historical high rise development at its most awesome and most fascinating.

For those who like surroundings which in turn stimulate, entrance and catch the imagination, the Midi weaves a spell. The past and old peasant way of life - despite the exodus of the young to the towns - feels only to be following half a step behind, and casting its shadow wherever you find yourself in the region. Nearby Chateau de Montcru you'll find:

General Information: Welcome to Chateau de Montcru Bed and Breakfast Gite and Holiday Home ... located in the foothills of the Pyrénées of France near Andorra in a splendid environment with many activities to enjoy - visiting one of the many caves, fishing, canoeing, hiking and para-gliding to name just a few. And on the chateau you can swim in the pool, or ride one of the horses of the Montcru.

Elisabeth and Robert Stoter, along with their two daughters, will look after you in a genuine family atmosphere. We cook for you upon request with specialities of the region and if possible, we use our own organic vegetables from our kitchen garden and the eggs of our hens. Our wonderful mansion, dating from 1804, offers a chance for a holiday or a weekend break in central southern France, just north of Andorra.

• The Stoter family lives in the château year round, while a wing with a separate entrance offers a self-contained gîte, Résidence de Montcru, for guests
  
• The décor of the gîte compliments its original features while providing all modern conveniences to make one's stay quite pleasant
  
• The living room is furnished with leather sofas and chairs on a warm, red tile floor, and has a fireplace, TV, DVD and CD player
  
• A children's play room occupies the round tower
  
• The kitchen has a gas cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, oven, refrigerator/freezer, a long table with chairs and a high chair
  
• As an added convenience, there is also a washer and a dryer
  
• On the first floor are four bedrooms, two of which have double beds, one has a double bed and two single beds, one has a double and two singles, and the tower bedroom has a baby crib
  
• It can comfortably accommodate eleven people and a baby
  
• Two bathrooms, one on the first floor and one on the ground floor, each have a shower
  
• There are also three ensuite guest rooms in the main château, each with a double bed
  
• The château is surrounded by meadows and forests near the small village of Allières (population 60) and not far from St Girons and La Bastide-de-Sérou
  
• Parking is also provided
  
• Dinner is offered by advance reservation for all guests of Château de Montcru
  
• The friendly owners are always at your disposal
  
• Also on the grounds is a very interesting 600 year-old stone farmhouse, which provides a backdrop for the lovely swimming pool and horseback riding is one of the special attractions at Château de Montcru
