The archipelago is located some 1,750 km east of Australia, 500 km north-east of New Caledonia, west of Fiji and south of the Solomon Islands. It was named New Hebrides during its colonial period. Vanuatu is only 2.5 hours flying time North East of Brisbane and 3.5 hours from Sydney, Australia. It's a little over 2 hours from Auckland, New Zealand. Espiritu Santo is an "away from the masses" experience so you can take the opportunity to do as little or as much you need to in this unrushed region of Vanuatu. It is truly one of the few places left where you can be on a beach alone if you wish, dive or snorkel with a thousand colourful fish, explore tribal and ritualistic cultural sites and follow it up with dinner on a jetty overlooking the South Pacific, all in the same day. Despite the passing of three centuries since its discovery by Europeans, Espiritu Santo's majestic beauty is little changed. It is perhaps best known as the inspiration for James A. Michener's classic "Tales of the South Pacific", written in World War II while the US Forces were stationed in Santo.

There's a great social atmosphere and a large sports facility. Many rooms are set up for divers, with secure wash areas right behind." |
