The town was named in honor of the Winn family, whose members fought in the Revolutionary War. During the Revolutionary War, Lord Cornwallis made his headquarters in Winnsboro for four months. Winnsboro and Fairfield County are centrally located in the state and are convenient to numerous Revolutionary and Civil War sites. There is antiquing nearby, as well as numerous small shops and boutiques. Nearby state and private parks offer hunting, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and hiking for the sportsmen. There are theaters and musical shows and a world-class amusement park a short distance away. The town abounds with historic and architecturally interesting homes and buildings. General Information: Welcome to Honeysuckle Acres ... a serene retreat on seven park-like acres offering the charm and elegance of a European Guesthouse in historic Winnsboro, South Carolina. In 2002, Harold and Patricia Frish purchased and remodeled the home for use as a small Bed & Breakfast. Today, the home is also a stunning setting for teas and receptions, both inside and out. Furnishings are an eclectic mix of fine European and American antique and classical furniture. Enjoy gourmet breakfasts every morning with the possibility of Epicurean picnic baskets to bring on your forays into the countryside. You will wake each morning to the aroma of fresh baked breads or muffins and fresh-brewed coffee served outside your room.
