Activities/Attractions: St. Augustin is the focal point of your Paris apartment in the 8ème Arrondisement. St. Augustin church was the first church in Paris to use a metal structure covered with stone. It was built between 1860 to 1871 from plans drawn by Victor-Louis Baltard. Many styles are used in this building namely Roman, Gothic, Byzantine and Renaissance.
The Parc de Monceau is one of the most elegant parks in Paris and is located within an easy walk from the apartment. The park, which features carefully manicured gardens, paths, small ponds and streams, and lots of sculptures, is hugely popular with young parents (and their small children), affluent joggers (they like the path that circles the park) and newlyweds having their pictures taken.
The largest health club in Paris (5 floors of exercise activities) is 6 blocks from the apartment.
A visit to the 8th should begin with the Champs Elysées, which starts at the Etoile Plaza, Arc de Triomphe and ends on the Place de la Concorde, where Louis XVI lost his head during the Revolution (1793).
Shopping for all things musical should be done on Rue de Rome and for culture, do not miss the Jacquemart-André Museum, the Grand and Petit Palais, and the Musée de la Découverte, Paris' science museum, the Musée Cernuschi and the Musee Nissim de Camondo.
Shopping at the world famous Galeries Lafayette is within walking distance of the apartment. Galeries has a beautiful glass and steel dome, and art nouveau staircase built in 1912 by the architect Cahnautin. The 10 story store is classified as an historic monument.
