Activities/Attractions: Katoomba, perched at the edge of the Murchison Valley, about 120km west of Sydney, is the main tourist centre in the Blue Mountains with a variety of things to do. You can get great views of the famous Three Sisters from Echo Point. Just west of this is the Scenic Railway, an old coalmining train built on an angle of 45 degrees, and the Scenic Skyway which travels 200m above the valley.
The area became hugely popular with the establishment of a railway station in 1876. It was first called 'Crushers' but was changed to Katoomba a year later. From this point it was a popular holiday resort providing excellent bushwalking and delightful views over the valleys. Popular attractions include:
