Telephone: +353-66-9767373 Fax: +353-66-9767373 Activities/Attractions: Castlemaine village is the gateway to both the Dingle Peninsula and the Ring of Kerry ... a former market-town situated on the harbour of Castlemaine, on the south-west coast of Ireland. Castlemaine is situated on the north side of the river Maine and lies south-east of the Slieve Mish range of mountains. Nearby attractions include:
County Kerry, traditionally known as the 'kingdom', is situated in the extreme south-west of Ireland. Kerry has two contrasting types of terrain - the mountainous south with the Beara, Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas, and the smaller 'plains' area that stretches as far north as the Shannon estuary. Along the coast, sandy bays alternate with cliffs and rocky headlands. You'll also see regions of outstanding scenic beauty, such as the Ring of Kerry. "The room we had was huge, with a walk-in wardrobe, comfortable bed, great shower and so quiet. Phena, Gerry and family made us welcome on arrival and served almost anything you could wish for, for breakfast. The position of the house is ideal for touring the ring of Kerry and Killarney. You couldn't wish for a better B+B if you tried. Apart from the comforts of our stay: what marked them out from the rest was the friendliness of the family. We feel they were simply the Best." "This B&B was a consensus favorite of seven we stayed in on our recent trip to ireland. The facilities, breakfast and atmosphere were excellent. The Buckley family personality added a warm touch of Ireland that no other stay could match." "The home is beautiful and
kept better than most 3/4 star hotels - our usual choice. Phena and Gerry
Buckley are the epitome of the perfect hosts. After 5 minutes you feel as
if you are staying with friends. |

"This is the prettiest house, the most unique furnishings, the best breakfast, the biggest room, the nicest hosts, and the best value of any B&B in Ireland. First, you get a menu for breakfast, of like five or six options. You get information from people familiar with the best routes on Dingle and Ring of Kerry - and you are smack dab in the middle of both. Second, the hosts are very friendly and make conversation. Jerry is the kind of guy you would meet in a bar and talk about sports or politics with, he is a good regular guy and a gracious host. Phena pays attention to detail in the cleanliness and presentation of her BNB more than anyone I have seen. Even their young kids are taught to present themselves in a friendly and non-obtrusive way. If you are in West Ireland, remember the wild colonial boy from the town of Castlemaine, and go here. You will not be disappointed." |
